UM to host Midwest Composers Symposium

The Composition Department will host the 2009 Midwest Composers Symposium on Friday, February 13 and Saturday, February 14.  This year's concerts will feature music from students and faculty from the University of Michigan, University of Iowa, Indiana University and the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.  The annual event gives students the opportunity to meet faculty and their peers at other institutions.

All concerts will be presented in Stamps Auditorium on North Campus.

The concert on Friday evening will feature the Symphony Band and Concert Band Chamber Wind ensembles under the direction of Michigan Marching Band Director Scott Boerma and graduate student conductor Tim Krohn.  The concerts on Saturday will feature solo and small ensemble works performed by students at the University of Michigan and guest student performers from the University of Iowa, Indiana University and University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
