Michigan students and alums shine at The 75th American Dance Festival at Duke University this summer
In a summary of the 75th season, The Best and the Worst of American Dance Festival 2008, Byron Woods, a dance and theater critic for The Independent, (Durham, NC) bestows special notice to the contributions of several University of Michigan Dance Dept alums-- Leah Ives, 2006, is singled out as one of the students requested to “stay”. She also performed in the re-staging of Laura Dean’s Tympani; MFA graduate, HeJin Jang, “humbled us all” in her presentation of “open skin”; Alex Springer performed in Doug Varone’s critically acclaimed Home ; MFA graduate, Rodney Brown joined Dayton Contemporary Dance Company on stage in Eleo Pomare’s Las Desendoradamores; and current student, Logan McClendon was cast in a re-staging of Erik Hawkin’s New Moon.
