Merit-Based Scholarships
The School of Music, Theatre & Dance commits over $750,000 annually in scholarships for undergraduates. The goal of this program is to encourage and reward excellence and to enable especially promising students to attend the School of Music, Theatre & Dance. You will be considered for merit-based scholarship if you submit all the application materials by the deadline (typically December 1), complete the audition/interview no later than March 6, 2009, and are subsequently offered admission. (The deadline for receipt of recorded auditions is January 15.)
School of Music, Theatre & Dance merit-based scholarship letters will be mailed in early April.
The Department of Theatre and Drama and the Department of Dance administer their scholarship programs. Questions regarding scholarships in these areas should be directed to the department.
Scholarships for the Department of Musical Theatre and all the music departments of the School are administered by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Betty Anne Younker. Questions regarding scholarships in these areas should be directed to her office.
Need-Based Awards
Need-based aid is administered by the Office of Financial Aid. Types of need-based aid include grants, college work-study, a variety of loan programs, and some scholarships. The School of Music, Theatre & Dance strongly encourages all applicants to apply for need-based financial aid.
1) Entering freshmen must complete the College Scholarship Service (CSS) Financial Aid PROFILE (www.collegeboard.com) to apply for all need-based University grants and scholarships. Be sure to list U-M's CSS Code 1839. The PROFILE costs $5 (nonrefundable registration fee) plus $18 for each university to which you want your information sent.
2) Complete and submit a 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid
