SUMMER WORKSHOPS

AMY PORTER'S ANATOMY OF SOUND - A Workshop for Flutists

A supportive, holistic approach to the flute

JUNE 5 - 8, 2010

This four-day intensive workshop presents an opportunity for flutists of all ages to participate in masterclasses, and join in-depth discussions about the study of flute tone, breathing and body awareness both in flute practice and in performance.

Fifteen performers are chosen by taped audition and will be selected upon level of playing needed for the class selected. No limit to the number of auditors.  Every age and performance level (student, amateur, semi-professional, professional) is encouraged to apply.

The repertoire-based workshops will focus on all aspects of practicing and performing and the movement workshops will feature Professor Schwiebert focusing on performance efficiency, reducing the stress and tension associated with performance, while increasing the student’s capacity for expression.

In addition, several leading flute manufacturers will exhibit their instruments for attendees to view, test and buy!

A TESTIMONIAL: "Whether you are a student, an amateur or a professional Amy Porter's class is a transformational experience. The combination of yoga, the incomparable movement therapist Jerry Schwiebert and Amy's incredible gifts as a flutist and teacher will help you discover your hidden potential and move past issues in your playing that you may have believed you could never overcome. Auditors participate in yoga classes and sessions with master movement therapist Jerry Schwiebert as well as sitting in on masterclasses with Ms. Porter and the special guest.
I teach yoga at the class and come away transformed and inspired after just auditing the other sessions! I also experienced a pain-free season! I can't recommend this wonderful class enough. Come make a breakthrough in your playing and your life in this supportive, holistic class. The most gifted performers have a relationship with their body that gives them the freedom to express all the components of music with ease. I know that we can all find that relationship with our own bodies. Come see what you can become!" - Laura Dwyer
