The two-week Performing Arts Technology (PAT) Camp, now in its 14th year, gives twelve students the opportunity to work in the University of Michigan’s state-of-the-art music technology and audio recording studios. Through individualized creative projects, students learn the fundamentals of music technology and recording. During the first week, students create original compositions that use MIDI and digital audio. The second week focuses on advanced applications in music technology including sound design, film scoring, and multi-track recording and production. Student work is compiled, mastered, and presented on both a website and DVD. The two weeks culminate in a performance of student works.  PAT Camp students also have the unique opportunity to collaborate with high school dancers by composing and recording music for the MPulse Ann Arbor Summer Dance Institute participants.  The Performing Arts Technology Camp is designed for current high school students who are considering studying some aspect of music technology in college.

"I feel that MPulse has opened up a lot of opportunities for me, because I learned so much about what I may want to major in in college. It's also helped me meet very amazing, talented people from across the country."  Audrey (Michigan, 2007)

"The PAT Camp was an awesome experience, from the state-of-the-art equipment, to the friendly staff and students. I learned so much, and I had a chance to collaborate with very talented students from around the globe."  Drew (Michigan, 2005)

"The MPulse PAT Camp exceeded every expectation I had. It was so much fun, and so helpful, to be in an atmosphere where all the staff members and students were amazingly talented and knowledgeable. Most importantly, I'm so proud of the music I made during the program – it sounds so professional!"  Jessica (New Jersey, 2005)

"I am very pleased with my experience at the University of Michigan. I now know what it takes to be a music major, whether in PAT or composition, and I learned that I would also love to attend the University of Michigan. I would recommend this camp to anyone who loves to write or record music, and if you want to major in PAT, I definitely believe this camping experience is an absolute necessity."  Tripp (Michigan, 2005)

"At MPulse camp, I became friends with musicians who still email me their songs and ask me to write and record parts for them. If the wide field of music technology was a city, MPulse would be a helicopter tour. Stop wandering the streets and see what you've been looking for."

Aaron (Michigan, 2005)

"Quite honestly, it was some of the best two weeks of my life. I didn't want the camp to end."  Danny (Ohio, 2005)
